Tiger Tracks Countdown #1: 4th-Down Touchdown Turns Around Season

Aug. 1, 2003

The situation looked grim for the Tigers as they trailed Duke 24-10 with just over 10 minutes remaining. On 4th-and-10 from the Duke 47-yard line, Tommy Bowden decided to go for it and the decision paid off. Charlie Whitehurst, making his first career start at quarterback, found Airese Currie between two Duke defenders and the wide receiver did the rest. It started a fourth quarter comeback from 14 points down that had only been accomplished once before by a Tiger team.
