Tiger Track & Field Plays Host to Clemson Heptathlon This Weekend

The Clemson men’s track & field team will play host to an indoor heptathlon event on Friday and Saturday, January 27-28. The event consists of 18 participants from seven different schools, as well as two unattached athletes. Included in the event this weekend will be two-time defending champion Maurice Smith, who holds the facility record with 5,749 points at last year’s championship.

Competing for Clemson this weekend will be All-ACC decathletes Brent Hobbs and Ryan Koontz. Hobbs was an All-ACC selection at last year’s heptathlon as well. Koontz currently holds the top mark this season for the Tigers in the 60m hurdles, while Hobbs posted the school’s best shot put effort of the season during last weekend’s Clemson Invitational. Feathers is in his first year as a multi-event athlete after red-shirting the 2005 season.
