Tiger Rowing to Host Clemson Challenge on Saturday

March 14, 2008

Clemson, SC – The Clemson rowing team will host Indiana, Ithaca, Pennsylvania, and Purdue on Lake Hartwell at 9:00 am on Saturday. This will be the first 2,000-meter race of the season for the Tigers. The Clemson Challenge has been designated as a Solid Orange Event, so Tiger fans are encouraged to attend.

Clemson is coming off a sweep of ACC rival Boston College last Saturday, so the Tigers will look to build upon their recent success this weekend. The Varsity 8+ race will get underway at 9:15 on Saturday with a crew from each school competing. The second Varsity 8+ will follow with a boat from each school and two from Purdue. Clemson will enter two boats in the Varsity 4+ race, which is slated to begin at 9:30. The Novice 8+ race will get underway at 10:00, with the Novice 4+ race following.

The Men’s US National Team, who spent the winter training in Clemson, will also be on hand to take part in the Clemson Challenge.

Following the event, video footage from the regatta will be available on demand at ACCSelect.com.
