Tiger Rowing Headed to George Washington Invitational

Clemson, SC – The Tiger rowing team is scheduled to compete this weekend at the George Washington Invitational in Washington, DC. The regatta, held on the Potomac River, will feature Clemson, Delaware, George Washington, Georgetown, Iowa, Navy, and St. Joseph’s.

Clemson will compete in three races in four different boats, the varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, varsity 4+, and novice 8+. The Tigers’ action gets underway Friday at 1:30 PM with the novice 8+ against Delaware. Clemson’s novice crew will also take on Iowa (Saturday, 8:00 AM) and Navy (Saturday, 1:15 PM).

The varsity 8+, which is the top vote receiver not ranked in the top 20 according to this week’s CRCA poll, will take on Delaware to start off Friday afternoon. The Tigers will then face Iowa on Saturday morning and Navy in the afternoon. Clemson’s top boat won the petite final at the San Diego Crew Classic last weekend and has been ranked as high as #12 this season. Navy’s varsity 8+ is also in the others receiving votes category in the latest coaches’ poll.

The second varsity 8+ will see action against the same schools. Clemson will compete with Delaware on Friday afternoon to get things started, then will face Iowa on Saturday morning. The Tigers and Hawkeyes will also compete in the second varsity 8+ Saturday afternoon with Navy.

The varsity 4+ actually gets started Friday afternoon against Navy’s B team and a 4+ from St. Joseph’s. The Tigers will race against George Washington and Navy on Saturday morning. Clemson’s varsity 4+ will wrap up Saturday afternoon with Navy and Georgetown.
