Tiger Divers Compete at USA Diving National Preliminary Zone B Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – Rising senior Chelsea Uranaka and sophomore Sarah Braun represented Clemson at the 2014 USA Diving National Preliminary Zone B Championships July 18-20 in Coral Springs, Fla. The Tiger divers competed as individuals in the 1m and 3m springboard events, and as a team in the 3m synchronized springboard event.

Uranaka finished 15th out of 35 divers in the preliminary round of the 3m with a score of 214.70, and placed in a tie for 17th among 38 competitors in the 1m (204.10). Braun took 16th in the 1m (207.15) and 18th in the 3m (209.20). The duo posted a score of 197.04 in the synchronized springboard for a 10th-place finish.

Braun and Uranaka qualified for the senior-level meet by meeting the degree of difficulty minimum for each event. After competing five optional dives in the preliminary round, the top 12 divers advanced to the finals. The top five divers from the zone finals qualified for the USA Diving ATT Senior National Championships Aug. 12-17 in Knoxville, Tenn.
