Tiger Cross Country Finishes 22nd In White Race at Pre-NCAA Meet

Terre Haute, IN – The Clemson men’s cross country team competed in the Pre-NCAA Meet on Saturday and finished 22nd out of 34 teams in the white race. The event took place on the same 8K course that will serve as the venue for the NCAA Cross Country Championships next month.

Colorado and Notre Dame were the top two finishers in the white race Saturday. The race featured 15 nationally-ranked schools. The Tigers finished 22nd overall with 543 points and improved their split time (time between first and fifth scorer) to just 1:17 seconds.

Clemson was led once again by junior Matt Clark, who finished 33rd out of 228 runners in the white race. Clark ran a time of 24:28. Brian Soder was Clemson’s second scorer, finishing 93rd with a time of 25:10. Sean Reilly ran 25:27 to finish third on the team and 125th overall. Greg Isaacs (136th) and Eric Soder (156th) completed the scoring for the Tigers. Isaacs finished in 25:33, while Soder ran the 8K course in 25:45.

Sam Bryfczynski and Clay Pendleton also competed for the team. Bryfczynski, a freshman from Walton, GA, finished in 26:03 for a 178th-place finish in his first trip to the Pre-Nationals event. Pendleton finished with a time of 26:27.

The Tigers return to action on October 31 to compete for the ACC Championship in Tallahassee, FL.
