Three Clemson Women Named to All-ACC Academic Outdoor Track & Field Team

CLEMSON, S.C. – Lindsey Bellaran, Olivia James and Marlena Wesh of the Clemson women’s track & field team were named All-ACC Academic on Wednesday. Wesh earned the honor for the third time in her career – her second on the outdoor All-ACC Academic Team. Bellaran earned her second honor of the season, adding to her indoor accolade. James received the acclaim in her first competitive season as a Tiger.

Bellaran, a communication studies major from Holmdel, N.J., established a personal best in the 800 meters this outdoor season. She advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time, serving as an alternate for the 4×400-meter relay.

James and Wesh both competed with the 4×4 at the NCAA Championships last month, helping the Tigers to a 10th-place finish in the semifinal round. James, a freshman from Jamaica, also advanced to the East Preliminary Round in the 400-meter dash. Wesh, meanwhile, just missed on qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 400, her signature event. She was All-ACC in April, her 14th career accolade. Wesh graduated with a degree in psychology in August 2013.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a minimum 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a minimum 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.
