Prior to joining the Clemson Family Sunny began her leadership journey as a student athlete at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. While there, she was the Co-Captain of the Rifle team, and was able to balance both athletics and academics. She was recognized as a Nebraska Scholar Athlete, which is the highest distinction and received the Howard and Judy Vann outstanding student leader award.  During her time as a student athlete Sunny became an intern at the Nebraska Athletics life and skills department. There she became involved in SAAC and organizing things such as career fairs, and professional development opportunities for the department.

Following her graduation Sunny became an NCAA Postgraduate intern in the leadership development Unit.
