Staab Nabs All-ACC Preseason Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson senior defender Sam Staab has been named to the Preseason All-ACC Team as voted by the league’s head coaches, the conference office announced Monday. This is the second-straight year Staab has nabbed a preseason all-conference selection.

In 2017, Staab earned Second Team All-ACC honors for the second consecutive year. The San Diego, Calif. native started all 19 games anchoring the back line a season ago, playing 1,802 minutes and recording four assists on the season. The Clemson defense had nine shutouts and only allowed 15 goals in 2017, for a 0.75 goals against average.

The Tigers were predicted to finish sixth in the ACC in 2018, as voted on by the league’s head coaches in the preseason poll.

Clemson returns to Historic Riggs Field Wednesday, Aug. 8 for an exhibition against Auburn, slated for 6 p.m. The Tigers head to Oregon to open the season against Oregon State on Aug. 17 in Corvallis and face the Ducks on Aug. 19 in Eugene.
