Not only will fans have the opportunity to see the debut of new head football coach Tommy Bowden and his team, but families will enjoy a fun-filled day of festivities and entertainment from 10:00AM-3:00PM under the South Stands in Death Valley.

Tickets to the Orange & White Spring Football Festival are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. IPTAY members, faculty, students and their families will be admitted at no charge with I.D. card.

In addition to the football scrimmage, the new Orange & White Spring Football Festival will include the annual Clemson Athletic Department surplus merchandise sale, numerous rides and activities for the kids, live entertainment, a remote radio broadcast by WMYI-FM, a Field Goal kicking contest for a new car, and an autograph session with the players and coaches. Prizes and gifts will be given away throughout the day, and concession stands will be serving traditional football fare.

At 10:00AM the festival will begin with the popular annual Surplus Sale. This sale includes items from the Clemson Athletic Department ranging from athletic apparel and equipment, both new and used. These items sell at a fraction of their original cost and promise to be great buys for all Clemson fans.

The rest of the Orange & White Spring Football Festival activities move into full swing at 11:00AM. Children will be delighted by the rides and games, including a Giant Slide, Moonwalk, Obstacle Course, Apple Spin, and High Striker. The Clemson Police Department will be on site with a vehicle and mascot McGruff the Crime Dog, and the Clemson Fire Department will display one of its new fire and emergency vehicles.

The Tiger and Tiger Cub mascots will entertain the kids while Central Spirit, the University’s student pep club, paints tiger paws and stripes on children’s faces. The first 1000 Tiger Cub Club members will receive a free commemorative festival photograph.

The Orange & White Spring Football Festival’s main stage area will feature activities for adults including performances by live entertainers, games to test knowledge of Clemson sports trivia, and an interview session with Coach Bowden.

At 1:00PM the football scrimmage will begin, giving fans a look at the 1999 team under Coach Bowden. Following the scrimmage, Coach Bowden and his team will be available on the field for autographs and pictures.

The Orange & White Spring Football Festival will culminate with a Field Goal Kicking Contest where one lucky fan will have the opportunity to win a Dodge Intrepid, a weekend at Hilton Head Island, $500 in cash… or possibly all three prizes! This contest will be hosted by Love & Hudson of WMYI-FM and the Clemson Sports Network’s Tiger Tailgate Show.

Station WMYI-FM 102.5 has joined with the Clemson Athletic Department and the Clemson Sports Network to create a whole new experience for the Clemson fans at the Orange & White Spring Football Festival. Michael Whitaker, president of the Clemson Sports Network says, “Everything is different about this event and we feel it is the beginning of a whole new experience and tradition for Clemson families. It seems timely to start this new family festival the same year Coach Bowden has joined the Clemson family.”
