Spring Football Comes To An End With The Orange & White Game

Tommy Bowden Chat Room

April 3, 2001

Clemson, SC – Clemson will hold its annual Orange & White scrimmage on Saturday afternoon in Death Valley at 3:00 PM. The scrimmage will be the 15th and final workout for Tommy Bowden’s Tigers. The scrimmage will be free of charge to the public.

Fans must enter the stadium at gates 5 or 9. Other gates will be closed as the stadium renovation under the South stands is in progress.

The Clemson team will not be divided into equal squads, something that has been the case for many years. All the offensive players will be in one color jersey and all the defensive players in another color. The team will then scrimmage against each other with a clock in use. There will be no kickoffs, but there will be field goal attempts.

Clemson has had two such scrimmages so far this spring, the most recent coming on March 31 in Death Valley.

Fans are urged to come to the stadium at 12:00 Noon for a surplus sale. Various Clemson clothing items will be on sale at a reduced rate at gates 5 and 9 at Memorial Stadium.

The IPTAY office will be open from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, while the ticket office will be open from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM.

In addition to the football game, the Clemson men’s and women’s track & field teams, and the Clemson volleyball team will also be in action.

Jolene Hoover’s volleyball team will hold a spring tournament all day in Jervey Gym. Teams from South Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia, Georgia State and Furman will all take part. Clemson’s first match will be against South Carolina starting at 8:50 AM. Clemson’s final match of the day will be at 3:50 PM against Georgia. Two courts will be going at the same time.

Both Clemson track & field teams will be in action at the Rock Norman Track. The field events begin at 11:00 AM and the running events begin at 1:00 PM.

Admission to all events is free of charge.
