The Clemson women's swimming and diving team was awarded the President's Pride Cup on Sunday, August 24 at the Clemson Athletic Department's Solid Orange Family Reunion held in Jervey Gym. The award recognizes excellence in four areas: Athletics, Academics, Leadership and Community Outreach. This is the second consecutive year that women's swimming and diving has accumulated the most points and earned the award.

The team had the highest average community service per individual, each athlete averaging nearly 20 hours of service. In academics, the spring semester of 2008 was the 18th consecutive semester the team posted a 3.0 or higher GPA. In the leadership category, the Tigers received the ACC Sportsmanship Award, had four ACC Top Six award winners, four All-ACC athletes and seven All-ACC Academic team members.

The President's Pride Cup is the highest overall award a team can receive at Clemson. The concept of the award came from the Student Athlete Advisory Council who wanted an award that honored excellence in all areas of the student-athlete experience. The actual trophy is housed in Vickery Hall and the winning team receives a replica for their trophy case. All members of the winning team receive pewter Jefferson Cups as a memento of their achievement.
