Roy Walker Signs With Clemson

May 2, 2003

Clemson has signed quarterback/athlete Roy Walker to a letter of intent for the 2003 football season. Walker, a standout at Macon County High School in Montezuma, GA, chose Clemson over Syracuse. The 6-3, 195-pound quarterback ran for 1400 yards and threw for 900 yards last season while also accounting for 30 touchdowns.

Walker won Team MVP, All-Conference and All-County honors and was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s All-State First Team in 2002. He was named Region Player of the Year and was also on the Macon News & Telegraph All-Mid-Georgia First Team. The Georgia Sportswriters Association tabbed him an All-State honorable mention player.

Walker, who runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, also participated in baseball, track and basketball. He is the region’s two-time defending champion in the 300m hurdles. In basketball, Walker averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while garnering several scholarship offers in that sport. Roy is the son of Debbie and Roy Walker, Sr.
