Rowing Travels to Head of the Tennessee Regatta

Oct. 29, 2004

The Clemson rowing team will travel to Knoxville, TN this weekend for the 29th annual Head of the Tennessee regatta. The event will be held all day Saturday, October 30. The Knoxville Rowing Association sponsors the regatta.

The Tiger rowers have not competed in the Head of the Tennessee since the fall of 2000. Clemson has rowed in this event two previous times, including the 1999 fall season when the Varsity 8+ boats claimed three of the top four finishing spots. The Novice 8+ has competed in the event both times, with one boat finishing as high as second-place in 1999.

Clemson played host to the Tail of the Tiger regatta in September, winning easily over local foes Georgia and South Carolina. The Tigers then held the intrasquad Class Day regatta, before racing in the Head of the Charles last weekend. Clemson finished 30th out of 42 boats entered in the Championship 8+ race in Boston.
