Rowing Travels to Chattanooga, TN for Saturday Regatta

Oct. 7, 2005

The Clemson rowing team will travel to Chattanooga, TN to take part in the 13th annual Chattanooga Head Race on the Tennessee River. The Tigers will participate in five events and will have a total of 11 boats competing on Saturday. The event is set to get underway at 9:00 AM.

The first race of the morning will be the Championship 8+, which will feature two crews from Clemson and three from Tennessee. Last spring, the two schools finished 2-3 in the South Region Championships. The three-mile course will provide the Tigers an opportunity to size themselves up against one of the nation’s elite programs.

Clemson will have three boats competing in the novice 4+ race, which will begin at 12:20 PM. The novice 8+ will field two separate boats in a race scheduled to start at 2:10 PM. Included in the field will be crews from UT-Chattanooga, Savannah College of Art & Design, and the Clemson University Rowing Association club squad.

The Tigers will have four boats competing in the Championship 4+ race, which takes place at 3:30 PM. Tennessee will also field four crews in that competition.

Last weekend, Clemson got off to a great fall season with a sweep of races in the Tail of the Tiger on Lake Hartwell. The Tigers return home next weekend for the annual Clemson Class Day event.
