Rowing Opens Spring Season

OAK RIDGE, TENN. – The Clemson Rowing team is set to open the season this Saturday, March 12 when the Tigers travel to Oak Ridge, Tennessee to participate in the Cardinal Invite.The two-day event begins Saturday morning for the Tigers at 10:18 a.m., with the afternoon slate starting at 3:10 p.m. The Tigers conclude the meet Sunday morning beginning at 11:14 a.m.

Clemson is coming off a fall slate of races that included the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass., the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn. and the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va. The Tigers registered a second place finish in the Varsity Fours in Boston, medaled in every event in Chattanooga, and notched a top-10 finish in the Varsity Eights at Charlottesville.

Clemson will face stiff competition this weekend as two of their opponents, Virginia and Michigan, were ranked 3rd and 11th, respectively, in the preseason CRCA/USRowing coaches poll. The other teams include Louisville, UCF, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Alabama.

This marks the second year of Coach Stephen Frazier Wong’s tenure at Clemson which saw the Tigers finish fifth last season in the ACC.
