Rowing Has Tough Outing at Head of the Charles on Sunday

BOSTON, MA – The Clemson women’s rowing Varsity 4+ squad finished 13th Sunday at the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA. The crew finished the race with a time of 19:33.223 but received a one-minute penalty for a safety violation, dropping their overall time to 20:33.223.

“The crew had a fantastic race, and our speed showed that we can race with the best teams in the country,” said Clemson head coach Robbie Tenenbaum.

“We had some heavy traffic to get through in a tight part of the head race course and our coxswain, Katie Bruggeling, did a fantastic job maneuvering amongst several boats.”

In the final stretch of the race, the Tigers had the second fastest split time (3:02.413) behind the Canadian Rowing Varsity 4+ (2:59.138), who won the race with an overall time of 18:32.098.

“We are continuing to work very hard as we prepare to race many of the top teams in the country this spring,” Tenenbaum said.

The Tigers will be back in the water on November 10 when they conclude the fall season with their annual Class Day Regatta on Lake Hartwell.
