Rowing Finishes in Top Eight in Head of the Hootch

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson rowing team finished in the top eight in each event they were entered in last Saturday at the Head of the Chattahoochee on Lake Lanier.

The Tigers’ novice teams finished fourth and eighth in the Novice 8+ event. Clemson “A” finished with a time of 19:25.0 while Clemson “B” was eighth with a time of 19:56.3. Clemson finished fourth in the Novice 4+ with a time of 21:41.5

In the Varsity 4+, Clemson took second, third and seventh. Clemson “A” finished nine-tenths of a second behind Duke with a time of 18:32.7 to take second place. Clemson “B” was third with a time of 18:53.9 and Clemson “C” was seventh in 19:23.8.

In the Women’s Open pairs, Clemson “A” finished sixth with a time of 21:16.8 and Clemson “B” was eighth with a time of 21:30.9.

Clemson’s “A” boat finished third with a time of 16:59.6 in the Varsity 8+ while Clemson “B” was eighth in 17:35.1.

Tiger rowing head coach Susie Lueck said, “It is exciting for Clemson to be in the top eight in all events in which we were entered. All of our boats had solid performances and great results. We have made a lot of progress this fall and are looking forward to the Rivanna Romp next weekend. We are excited about the opportunity to step up to that challenge and beating some competitive programs.”

Clemson will race at the Rivanna Romp next Saturday, Nov. 11, on the Rivanna Reservoir in Charlottesville, VA.
