Redwood City, CA – Clemson concluded the final day of the two-day Windermere Crew Classic on Sunday from Redwood Shores. The second varsity 8+, varsity 8+, and novice 8+ crews competed for Clemson on Sunday against Stanford and UCLA.

The second varsity 8+ began the day’s competition, as Clemson took on host school Stanford. The Cardinal rowers won the first 1,000 meters before Clemson came back strong in the next 500 meter split. Stanford pulled away at the end and finished with a time of 6:42.71, ahead of the Tigers who had a time of 6:48.97.

The varsity 8+ race was dead even in the first 500 meters. Stanford then began to slowly pull away from Clemson over the next 1000 meters. The Cardinal rowers cruised to the victory in a time of 6:22.20, with Clemson finishing at 6:30.60.

UCLA’s novice 8+ team jumped out to an early lead in the first 1000 meters over Clemson. The Bruins had open water from that point on in leading to the victory in a time of 6:52.98. Clemson’s novice 8+ finished with a time of 7:01.61. It was a successful event overall for the novice program, however, as Clemson defeated the University of Washington for the first time ever Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, April 23 as they play host to the ACC Championships for the second consecutive year on Lake Hartwell. Event information will be available online at www.clemsontigers.com within the next week.
