Eight Rowers Honored as CRCA Scholar Athletes

CLEMSON, S.C. – Head coach Stephen Frazier Wong and the rowing staff announced the signing of Jasmine Lewis on Wednesday. Lewis will join the Tigers in the fall of 2018, upping the signing class to 15 student-athletes.

“Jasmine is a young, powerful rower who will immediately add to our team speed,” said Frazier Wong. “Jasmine will join her outstanding teammates Chloe O’Brien and Kate Hadley from the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association as Tiger cubs this fall. Jasmine brings our incoming class to 15 and will be a lot of fun to coach. We are eager to welcome these outstanding young women to Tiger Town.”

Lewis is a native of Woodstock, Ga. and attended Sequoyah High School while rowing for the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association, where she was coached by Jordan Smith. When she signed with Clemson, she became the first student-athlete from her county (Cherokee) to sign to row collegiately. Her best 2K time of 7:21.9 ranks sixth all-time at the AJRA, and the V8 that she rowed in this spring finished sixth in its region. She was also invited to participate in the 2018 U23 Sculling Development Camp.

Her parents are Kirby Lewis-Hobba and Skip Hobba, and she intends to major in sports communication at Clemson.
