Ramsey Finishes 48th at Kraft Nabisco Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA – Future Clemson women’s golfer Ashlan Ramsey had her second under-par round of the tournament and finished 48th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, CA on Sunday. Ramsey had a one-under-par 71 on Sunday, the same score she had in the first round on Thursday.

Among the players Ramsey was tied with for 48th place were world number-two player Yani Tseng and Lexi Thompson.

The Kraft Nabisco Championship was played at Mission Hills Country Club and is the first Major of the LPGA schedule. Ramsey was invited to the event after finishing runner-up at the US Public Links Championship last summer.

Ramsey is expected to be one of the leaders of Clemson’s inaugural women’s golf team under head coach J.T. Horton next fall.

On Sunday, Ramsey got off to a slow start with bogeys on the first two holes. But she had four birdies and just one more bogey the rest of the way. The native of Milledgeville, GA finished the tournament with a two over par score of 290 after rounds of 71-73-75-71.

She had 12 birdies and 14 bogeys for the 72 holes, one of the few people in the field who did not make a double bogey or worse the entire week.

Ramsey was one of nine amateurs in the field, one of five amateurs to make the cut. She finished third among the amateurs with her 290 score. Only 15-year old New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko and Unversity of Alabama player Stephanie Meadow were better.

Ramsey was outstanding when it came to her short game. For the week she had just 116 putts, including just 27 on Sunday.
