Proveaux Fires 67

Clemson, S.C.—Cody Proveaux shot  a five under par 67 on Saturday to lead Clemson to a 290 team score and a 14th place standing after two rounds of the US Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga.  The 54 hole event at the Golf Club of Georgia Lakeside Course concludes on Sunday.

Proveaux had eight birdies on the day and had nine hole scores of 34-33.  He made birdie on the last two holes, the eighth and ninth holes of the day.  He stands in sixth place entering Sunday’s final round.  He had a stretch of four birdies out of five holes on the back nine to highlight his round.

The 15 team event features 11 of the top 25 teams and six of the top 11 teams in the nation.   Texas has the lead after two rounds at 566.  Clemson is in 14th place at 584.  The Tigers are just three shots behind third ranked Georgia Tech and just nine shots our of fifth place entering the final round.

Proveaux was the only player under par for the Tigers on Saturday..  Stephen Behr was Clemson’s second best player on the day with a 73 on the par 72 course. He had four birdies for his round that included a one under par 35 on the front nine.   Behr stands in 30th place with a 145 total for the first 36 holes.

Billy Kennerly had a 74 on Saturday after a 73 in Friday’s first round.  He had a nice run of birdies on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes, but closed with a triple bogey eight on the ninth hole. Kennerly stands in 42nd place in the field of 79 playes.

Miller Capps had his second consecutive 76 and stands in 67th place with a 152 score.  Sophomore Carson Young has had scores of 81-79 and is 78th with a 160 score
