Clemson Head Coach Oliver Purnell

Overall Thoughts: “I thought we accomplished what we needed to accomplish. We had a commitment to defense and were able to establish good habits for next week. We moved forward from our closed scrimmage and played better defense. We got lots of people in and should have lots of good film to watch. The first half was better; at halftime I talked to the guys about the challenge of fighting ourselves and the natural tendency to let up when you’re up big.”

On the play of Noel Johnson: “I am pleased; I thought all our young guys looked good. He gave us a spark on offense and continued to knock down shots. He’s a natural offensive player. (Andre) Young did good at the point. Our big guys have to realize that they can get a lot done playing opposite Trevor with the attention he’s getting.”

On freshman during the preseason: “They have done really well coming in and working hard and fitting in. Like freshman, they’re seen a lot and heard little. They’re good kids and very talented. They played better today than three weeks ago.”

On points in the paint: “I would prefer less turnovers. They (FMU’s defense) sagged early, so we just have to take what the defense gives us.”
