Pole Vaulter Greeley Earns Silver Medal at Pan Am Junior Championships

July 30, 2005

Windsor, Ontario, Canada – Clemson pole vaulter Mitch Greeley was one of 11 Americans to earn a medal on the Friday, the first day of competition, at the 2005 Pan American Junior Championships. The rising sophomore from Rock Hill, SC cleared 5.00m/16’4.75″ to earn a silver medal for Team USA.

“I moved to a shorter pole since the winds were unpredictable, and I felt really comfortable,” Greeley said. “I felt like I should have made the next height (5.05), but it feels great just to win a medal.”

Greeley was an All-ACC honoree in both indoor and outdoor as a freshman in 2005. He had a high mark this past season of 16’8.75″, which he accomplished indoors at the Notre Dame Invitational in February. His top outdoor mark during the 2005 collegiate season was 16’6.75″ at the ACC Championships.
