Philip Sikes Joins Clemson Athletic Department

Philip Sikes has been named assistant sports information director at Clemson University. Among other tasks, his main duties will consist of day-to-day publicity operations for volleyball, women’s basketball, and rowing. He will also serve on Clemson football and men’s basketball statistical crews and serve as a contributing writer to Clemson game programs.

Sikes, 24, has served as an intern, student assistant, and graduate assistant in the Clemson sports information office since May of 2002. He assisted with the publicity efforts for baseball, football, and golf during his time as a graduate assistant. Sikes served as layout coordinator for the 2004 golf media guide, which was cited as second-best in the nation by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). He also was responsible for layout of the 2004 spring football guide, and will again serve in that capacity next spring.

The Aiken, SC native received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University in parks, recreation, and tourism management, with emphasis in sport management. As an undergraduate, Sikes also served as a sportswriter for the school’s award-winning student newspaper, The Tiger. Earlier this August, he earned a master of human resource development degree from Clemson.
