Padgett Paces Men’s Track & Field at Clemson Relays

Clemson, SC – Travis Padgett posted regional-qualifying times in the 100m dash and 4x100m relay Saturday in winning both events to pace the men’s track & field team at the Clemson Relays. Padgett cruised to victory in the 100m dash with a time of 10.11, while leading the 400m relay team to a winning time of 40.37 seconds.

The remainder of the 4x100m team for Clemson was comprised of Cowin Mills, Corey Brown, and Gwantaveus Anderson. Padgett and his fellow sprinters also claimed the 4x200m relay title on Saturday, giving the junior a clean sweep of three events on the first weekend of outdoor season.

Travis Swaggard won the 400m intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.37, holding off teammate Andrew Porter (54.12) who finished runner-up. Those two teamed with Brown and Mills to post a runner-up finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:14.96.

In the field events, Alex Padgett placed fourth in the hammer throw. He had a mark of 171’10”. He was also fifth in the shot put with a mark of 49’4.5″. Scott Pauga was sixth in the javelin throw (164’8″).

Josh Fowler competed in both horizontal jumps. He finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 22’4.5″ and fifth in the triple jump as well (46’10.75″).

Miller Moss posted 6,819 points in the decathlon and finished third out of 13 student-athletes in the grueling competition. He was a USA Junior All-American in the event last summer.

The Tigers return to action next weekend for a variety of meets, including the Stanford Invitational in California and Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, GA.
