Orange Downs White in Intrasquad Meet

Clemson, SC – The Clemson Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams hosted their annual Orange and White intrasquad meet this Saturday at McHugh Natatorium. The Orange team, led by Attila Ruszka, defeated the White team by a final score of 290-234.

The meet started with the Orange team sweeping both the men’s and women’s 100 yard medley relay. Individually Ruszka led the team by winning the 150 fly and the 150 breast. Joel Johnson was another multiple winner for the Orange team, as he placed first in the 50 and 150 backstrokes. Brian Regone took home the win in the 150 freestyle for Orange. In the synchronized diving competition, Dani Kazilionis and Jen Miata flipped their way to a victory. The most exciting race of the meet came when Mary Paulsen, Jen Grove, Whitney Sandison, and Amanda Pirovitz took first in the 200 yard t-shirt relay.

For the White team, Ashley Shafer was a multiple winner in the 150 and the 50 breaststroke. Michelle Parkhurst, Cassy LaRussa, Jess Watcke, and Brian Miller all contributed with victories.

Clemson will host ACC foe Virginia next on Saturday October 29. The men’s team will look get off to a 2-0 start in the ACC while the women will try to even up their record at 1-1.
