No. 8 Maryland Upsets No. 7 Clemson in ACC Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The eighth-seeded Maryland Terrapins upset the seventh-seeded Clemson Tigers 3-0 (15-12, 15-6, 15-11) in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Tournament played this evening at Reynolds Gym. The Tigers end their season with a 13-18 overall mark while Maryland improves to 14-15 overall.

Jodi Steffes led the Tigers with 20 kills, nine digs and a .390 hitting percentage. Jessi Betcher tallied a team-high 39 assists with 11 digs and Jackie Dalleska had a team-best three blocks (one solo). Anne Berki hit .350 with nine kills and two service aces. Clemson hit .206 for the match while Maryland hit .270.

The Terrapins’ Carey Brennan led Maryland with 17 kills, 13 digs and a .406 hitting percentage. Nnenna Amobi added 14 kills while Lindsay Davey recorded a team-high 39 assists. Willette Dority had three blocks (one solo) for the Terps.
