No. 33 Men’s Tennis Falls To No. 3 Stanford, 5-2

STANFORD, Calif. – The third ranked Stanford men’s tennis team (11-0) remained undefeated with a 5-2 victory over No. 33 Clemson today at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal began the match with a sweep in doubles, led by the nation’s top-ranked duo of Alex Kim (Potomac, MD) and Geoff Abrams (Newport Beach, CA). Kim and Abrams defeated 11th-ranked Josh Goffi and Darren Knight of Clemson 8-4 to improve their record to 23-2 overall.

The Cardinal scored victories in four of the six singles matches, highlighted by Kim and Abrams. Kim, who is ranked second by the ITA, defeated 47th-ranked Goffi at No. 1 singles, while the 15th-ranked Abrams was pushed to three sets by Brad Emendorfer before pulling out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Stanford will face 48th-ranked California on Saturday at noon at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
