No. 18 Clemson Sweeps Kentucky, 3-0

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 18th nationally, defeated Kentucky 3-0 (15-2, 15-9, 15-10) Friday night at Jervey Gym in the first match of the Big Orange Bash. Clemson outhit Kentucky .337 to .142 in the match. The Tigers were led by sophomore Jodi Steffes, who hit .750 with 10 kills, 1 error and 12 attempts.

Senior Emily Gorla had 13 digs to pace the Tigers and hit .400 in the win (seven kills, one error, 15 attempts), while senior Cindy Stern led all hitters with 12 kills. Freshman Mallory Benson hit .625 for the Tigers, adding five kills, no errors and eight kills. Freshman setter Jodi Betcher had 42 assists and five service aces to lead the team.

Junior Megan Weiskircher led Kentucky with a .263 hitting percentage, and freshman Kristen Batt led the team with seven kills. Sophomore Whitney Sample added 14 assists for the Wildcats.

Kentucky (4-1) and #30 Notre Dame (3-1) will play Saturday at 2 p.m., and Clemson (6-0) will take on Notre Dame Sunday at 2 p.m. during the remaining matches of the Big Orange Bash.
