Nimmer Named ACC Golfer of the Month

Greensboro, NC—Clemson senior Bryson Nimmer has been named the ACC Golfer of the Month for September. The announcement was made by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Tuesday.

Nimmer had arguably the greatest month in Clemson history in September when he won two tournaments and finished second by one shot in another. All three events were against national fields with as many as nine top 25 teams.

The native of Bluffton, S.C. won the Carpet Classic in Dalton, Georgia in the opening tournament of the year when he shot a 65 and overcame a six shot deficit in the final round. It was his first career victory after four second-place finishes earlier in his career.

Nimmer then set numerous Clemson records in winning the Maui Jim Collegiate in Arizona in the second tournament of the year. He shot 195, 15-under par for his 54 holes, a Clemson record for a three-round tournament. His score vs. par was also a record for a 54-hole event. He became just the fourth player in Clemson history to win back to back tournaments.

Nimmer completed the month with a second-place finish at the Nike Collegiate at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth last weekend. For the third consecutive tournament he shot a 65 in the final round.

For the month, Nimmer averaged 67.33 with four rounds at 65 or better. He already has set the Clemson mark for rounds of 65 or better in a season.
