Nancy Harris Inducted Into Auburn University-Montgomery Hall of Fame

Feb. 13, 2006

CLEMSON, SC – Nancy Harris, head coach of the Clemson women’s tennis team, was inducted into the Auburn University at Montgomery Athletic Hall of Fame over the weekend. Harris is in her ninth year at the helm of the Tiger program and coached Clemson to back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances in 2004 and 2005.

During the eight years that Harris served as the women’s tennis coach and the five years she lead both the women’s and men’s squads at Auburn University Montgomery, the two programs experience unprecedented success. The women’s teams won the NAIA National Championship in 1992, and were national runners-up in 1991, 1993, 1994, and 1997. The men’s squads captured NAIA National Championships in 1995 and 1996 under her tutelage.

At the time that the AUM women’s team won the NAIA National title, it was the first women’s intercollegiate team in Alabama to win a national championship. When the men’s team won the NAIA National Championship in 1995, it was the first time in NAIA history that a female coach had led a men’s team to a national title.
