Minnesota Men’s Tennis Team Downs Clemson, 7-0

Bloomington, MN — The 18th-ranked Minnesota men’s tennis team defeated No. 57 Clemson 7-0 Friday night at the 98th Street Racquet Club in Bloomington, Minn. The Golden Gophers won the doubles point as Reven Stephens and Manuel Lievano defeated Damiisa Robinson and Goran Sterijowski 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles match of the night. Minnesota’s Aleksey Zharinov and Avery Ticer defeated Micah Thompson and Sander Koning in the No. 3 doubles match 8-2. Marko Gojanovic and freshman Nathan Thompson picked up the lone win for the Tigers with an 8-4 victory over Thomas Haug and Chris Wettengel in the No. 1 position.

Minnesota swept all six of the singles matches. Aleksey Zharinov took the No. 1 match defeating Marko Gojanovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Avery Ticer and Haug were also able to earn a wins in straight sets with Haug taking the second set in a tie breaker.
