Miller, Lamb Named to Watch Lists

Junior Brad Miller was named one of 25 quarterfinalists for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop-of-the-Year Award and junior Will Lamb was one of 25 players on the John Olerud Two-Way Player-of-the-Year Award Watch List, both announced on Thursday night. The Wallace Award, which recognizes the nation’s top shortstop, and Olerud Award, which recognizes a player who makes an impact both at the plate and on the mound, will both be presented in Lubbock, TX on July 3 as a part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Night of Champions.

Miller leads the ACC and entered the week sixth in the nation in batting average (.437). The Windermere, FL native also entered the week sixth in the country in on-base percentage (.535). Miller has totaled eight doubles, three triples, two homers, 32 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases along with a .948 fielding percentage in 37 games (35 starts) in 2011.

Lamb, an outfielder, first-baseman, and lefthander from Seaford, VA, is hitting .307 with 10 stolen bases and is riding a 19-game hitting streak, the longest by a Tiger in 2011. On the mound, he is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched over eight appearances (four starts) in 2011.
