Mijacika Falls in Finals at ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Clemson women’s tennis player Ani Mijacika fell in the finals of the ITA Natinoal Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Sunday. The Tiger junior was defeated by Arkansas’ Aurelija Miseviciute for the second straight year. This 2008 tournament was held at Boar’s Head Tennis Club and hosted by the University of Virginia.

Mijacika won the first set easily, downing Miseviciute by a 6-1 margin to become the first player to claim a set off the Lady Razorback in the event. Miseviciute edged Mijacika in the second, 7-5, and then won five straight games to erase a 4-1 lead for Mijacika in the third. With the loss, Mijacika wrapped up her fall season with a 12-3 record.

In 2007, Mijacika won the first set, 6-3, while Miseviciute posted a 7-5 win in the second. The two then battled to a tie-break in the third set, which the Arkansas player eked out, 7-3, for the victory.

The Tiger team will return to action in January with the start of the dual-match, spring season.
