Metcalf and Glodack Sign Professional Contracts

Two more former Clemson men’s soccer players have signed professional contracts this week, adding to the growing number of former Tigers in the professional ranks.

Chris Glodack, a goalkeeper and December 2014 graduate, has signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League. (NASL) Glodack signed following an invitation to a private combine with Tampa Bay, at which he impressed and showed promise of a bright career.

Perhaps Glodack’s best moments in a Clemson uniform came during the 2014 ACC Tournament. He twice entered games in penalty kick shoot-outs to defend the Clemson net. Against Wake Forest in the tournament quarterfinals, he saved three pens to help Clemson advance to the semifinals. And in the semifinal match against defending national champion Notre Dame, he again entered and successfully defended Clemson’s goal. The video below shows Glodack’s success against Wake Forest.

Jack Metcalf, a 2013 graduate, signed with the expansion Charlotte Independence, an affiliate of MLS’ Colorado Rapids, of the United Soccer League. (USL) Metcalf becomes the seventh player signed with the franchise, which plays it’s 2015 season opener on March 27 against the Charleston Battery, the current professional home of another former Tiger, Austin Savage.

Metcalf was a steady force along the backline during his Clemson career, assisting on three goals during his senior season, second-best on the team. This past season, he worked with the Clemson coaches and players as a volunteer student assistant coach and assistant director of operations, handling some travel and practice details.

The England native came up through the youth systems of several notable clubs, including Liverpool FC and Wolverhampton FC prior to Clemson.

Glodack and Metcalf join former Tigers Phanuel Kavita, Amadou Dia, Austin Savage, Thomas McNamara, Caleb Sturgis, Joe Bendik and Hunter Gilstrap on professional rosters for the upcoming season. Manolo Sanchez and Dane Richards are currently in camp with the New York Red Bulls of MLS. Check back tomorrow for updates on the rest of the former Tigers in the pros!
