Men’s Track Team Brings Home NCAA Qualifying Times

March 31, 1998

Clemson, SC– The Clemson men’s track team comprised of the sprinters and hurdlers went the Jamaican Relays this weekend and came back with three first place finishes and two NCAA provisional times.

The Tigers took the first three spots in the 100m dash with All-American Shawn Crawford, a sophomore from Van Wyck, SC, leading the way with an NCAA provisional time of 10.35. Charles Allen and Carlton Chambers took second and third.

Senior Greg Hines took first place in the 110m high hurdles running a time of 14.04. Hines was just .01 seconds from hurdling an NCAA qualifying time. Taking second in the same event was teammate Jeremichael Williams, who was an All-American last outdoor season in the hurdles.

The 4x100m relay team Chambers, Allen, Crawford, and Kenny Franklin finished first with a time of 39.94, an NCAA provisional time.

The Clemson track and field team will be heading to the Florida Relays on March, 27th and 28th.
