Men’s Swimming & Diving Sixth After First Day of ACC Meet

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Junior Will Rogers (West Columbia, SC) tied for second with a time of 20.17 in the 50 free to earn All-ACC honors and lead the Clemson men’s swimming and diving team in the first day of the ACC Championship Meet at Chapel Hill, NC. Rogers time is his best of the season and places him third on Clemson’s all-time list. As a team Clemson is sixth with 84.50 points following Thursday’s competition. Virginia leads the meet with 242 points, and North Carolina is second with 201.50 points.

Other top-eight finishers for the Tigers included freshman Craig Thomas (Maryville, TN), who placed sixth with 433.30 points in the one-meter diving competition, and sophomore Matt Wilson (Wilmington, DE), who finished seventh with an NCAA provisional time of 1:50.36 in the 200 IM.

The Tigers’ 200 free relay team of sophomore Brett Walker (N. Huntington, PA), senior Mike Pridemore (Franklin, TN), Rogers and senior Rob Etheridge (Aiken, SC) recorded a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:21.19.

Friday’s competition begins at 11 a.m. with the preliminaries and will continue with the finals at 7 p.m.
