Men’s Swimming and Diving Fifth After Day One of the ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Clemson men’s swimming and diving team is ranked fifth after day one of the ACC Championships at Campus Recreation Center Natatorium. The Tigers were able to earn 119 points in the first day and post two NCAA qualifying times.

Matt Wilson finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.18. Wilson’s time is a season best for the Tigers and is enough to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The Tiger 400 medley relay team of German Martinez, Ryan Cassella, Rob Kummer, and Drew Scheerhorn finished third in the event with a time of 3:17.59, which earned them an NCAA-B qualification.

Craig Thomas earned a fourth-place finish in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 292.55, while teammate Eric Shulick recorded a seventh-place finish with a score of 269.55.

The Tigers will return to action tomorrow morning with the preliminaries set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
