Men’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Georgia Tech

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s swimming and diving team defeated Georgia Tech 145-95, Saturday afternoon at the McHugh Natorium on Clemson’s campus. The Tiger 200 medley relay team of Adam Porter, Alejandro Dubreuil, Tim Collis and Alex Ioanovici swam a time of 1:33.51 for first place in the event. The time was just .13 off the pool record, set earlier this season by Penn State.

Clemson took first place in eight out of 11 swimming events, led by two seniors who were competing in their last home meet. Senior Matt Maurer won the 1650 free with a time of 16:17.77, and senior Will York won the 500 free in 4:44.59. Ioanovici, who is completing his eligibility this season, was first in the 50 free (20.67) and the 100 free (45.15).

Freshman Matt Wilson placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.04, and Collis, a sophomore, was first in the 200 back (1:54.58). Sophomore Will Rogers won the 200 free in 1:43.99.

The Tigers (5-4, 2-2 ACC) will travel to the ACC Championships February 25-27 in College Park, MD.
