Men’s Soccer To Face Kentucky Sunday Afternoon

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson men’s soccer team will start NCAA play in the second round Sunday afternoon as the Tigers entertain Kentucky Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on Riggs Field.

Clemson has a 17-4 record overall and won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship last Sunday. The Tigers are fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament. In the national polls, Clemson is ranked fourth by Soccer America, sixth in the NSCAA, and ninth in the soccertimes.com poll. Clemson has won 16 of its last 18 matches. The Tigers are led is scoring by senior Ian Fuller who has 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. Junior Dimelon Westfield has nine goals and five assists for 23 points this season.

This is the 22nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Clemson over the years. The 22 appearances are tied for the sixth best in NCAA history. Clemson has a 38-20 overall record in the NCAA Tournament over the years.

Kentucky has a 14-5-1 record this season. The Wildcats defeated Mercer 1-0 on Friday night in the first round at Clemson’s Riggs Field. Clemson received a first round bye. Kentucky is led in scoring by John Monebrake with eight goals and three assists for 19 points.

This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Kentucky on the soccer field.
