Men’s Cross Country Team Set To Compete in Pre-NCAA Meet Saturday

Oct. 14, 2005

Clemson’s men’s cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, IN to participate in the Pre-NCAA Meet on Saturday. The competitions will be held at the same course that will serve as home to the NCAA Championships in November.

The Tigers have competed in just two events this season, the Clemson Invitational and Great American Classic. In both races, Matt Clark has been the Tigers’ top performer. The junior from Hyannis, MA won the Clemson Invitational and finished second in the Great American Classic, earning him honors the following Monday as ACC Performer of the Week. His time of 24:09 over the 8K course in Cary, NC was a personal best.

A pair of brothers, Brian and Eric Soder, have run well this season. Brian has scored in both events for the Tigers, including a sixth-place finish in the Clemson Invitational, while Eric ran a 25:41 at the Great American Classic to finish 45th overall.

Sam Bryfczynski and Bryce Iverson, both newcomers to the team this season, finished 4-5 in Clemson’s lineup at the Great American Classic. Greg Isaacs, Clay Pendleton, and Sean Reilly have also scored for Clemson this season.

Following this weekend’s trip, Clemson will next compete in the ACC Championships from Tallahassee, FL on October 31.
