Men’s Basketball To Face Furman On Wednesday In Greenville

Dec. 29, 1999

GREENVILLE, S.C.-Clemson (5-6) and Furman (7-6) will meet in men’s basketball on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. in Greenville’s Bi-Lo Center.

The Tigers are hoping to bounce back from a 90-71 setback against George Washington last Wednesday in Clemson.

Clemson has a 91-51 lead in the series with Furman,a series that dates to the first game in Clemson basketball history. The Tigers won that game 46-12 behind 22 points from J.O. Erwin.

Clemson has won 23 games in a row and 31 of the last 32 against the Paladins. The only loss was a 87-68 defeat at Clemson in the 1977-78 season. Six of Clemson’s 23 wins in a row have been by four points or less.

The game will be Clemson’s fourth game of the season in the Bi-Lo Center. The Tigers participated in the SoCon Holiday Hoops Tournament at the facility in November.

Last season, Harold Jamison scored 16 points and had 16 rebounds to lead Clemson to a 67-54 win over Furman at the Bi-Lo Center on December 26. It was the first college basketball game ever played in the building. Over 13,000 fans attended the game.
