McCann Named a Third-Team All-American by Baseball America

June 21, 2004

Junior third-baseman Brad McCann (Duluth, GA) was named a Third-Team All-American by Baseball America Thursday. In 63 games in 2004, he led Clemson with a .379 batting average, 96 hits, 65 RBIs, 64 runs scored, 20 doubles, and a .468 on-base percentage. He also hit 16 homers as the everyday #3 batter in the starting lineup. Starting in 2003 and ending in 2004, he had a 22-game hitting streak, tied for the fifth-longest in school history. He also hit safely in 73 of his last 82 games as a Tiger. His .363 batting average in two seasons at Clemson ranks 10th-best in Tiger history, but fourth-best among players with at least 400 at-bats. McCann was drafted in the sixth round by the Florida Marlins earlier this month and signed last week.
