MBB: GA for Auburn on 12/14

After the wildly successful turnout and crowd participation for three games in the 2014 NIT, Clemson athletic department officials announced today a plan to allow general admission seating for the Tigers’ non-conference game scheduled for Sunday, December 14.

“We had such great crowds and enthusiastic fans at the NIT games last spring, and heard so much positive feedback from the experience, we want to try to create that type of environment for a regular season game,” director of athletics Dan Radakovich said. “Looking at the schedule, we identified a high-profile opponent in mid-December after exams have concluded and thought we’d try to encourage the Clemson community and the entire Upstate area to come out on a Sunday and support the team.”

To ensure season-ticket holders are accommodated, reserved parking will remain in effect for the game. “The one big thing we heard from the fans in a negative way was about parking for the NIT games, so we’re going to make sure we have that piece in place,” Radakovich said. “We’re also looking at other ways to make sure season ticket holders are accommodated since obviously their seats won’t be reserved; and we’ll get that word out to them when we finalize all the details.”

Individual game tickets for the contest will be $15, with students getting in free with their student ID.

“I told a lot of people this summer how awesome the atmosphere was for those postseason games last year, and I think this is a great idea to try to get that energy in the building when classes are over,” head coach Brad Brownell said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
