Feb. 6, 2006

GREENSBORO, NC – Georgia Tech’s Brandy Depland and North Carolina’s Laura Gerraughty were selected as the ACC Women’s Co-Performers of the Week, while Clemson’s Adam Linkenauger was honored on the men’s side.

Depland shattered the Yellow Jacket school record in the triple jump at the Meyo Invitational last weekend with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 44′ 2″ (13.46m). The senior from Katy, Texas took first place in the triple jump while setting a meet and Notre Dame Loftus Sports Center track record in the event. Depland currently holds the top mark in the ACC and in the nation.

Gerraughty registered her second straight NCAA automatic qualifying standard in the women’s shot put in as many weeks, throwing a season best mark of 60′ 7.25″ (18.47m) at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y. The senior set a meet and Armory facility record in the shot put en route to being named Female Most Outstanding Performer. Gerraughty’s mark currently sits as tops in the ACC and in the nation, eclipsing last week’s national leading mark of 59′ 5.5″.

Linkenauger set a personal best and moved into third place in the Clemson record books with a clear of 7′ 3″ (2.21m) in the men’s high jump competition at the Meyo Invitational. The mark provisionally qualified Linkenauger for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship, his second such mark of the season. The Fincastle, Va. native currently leads the ACC and is tied for fifth nationally in the high jump.
