Lady Tigers to Open Season at South Carolina

The Clemson women’s basketball team will open its 2002-03 season Friday night, November 22, at 7:00 p.m. as the Lady Tigers play South Carolina in Columbia, SC. The game will be played at the new Carolina Center.

Lady Tiger Head Coach Jim Davis is entering his 16th season with the Lady Tigers as he has a 316-150 mark at the school in 15 years of work. This will be the 48th meeting between Clemson and South Carolina in women’s basketball. Clemson leads the overall series 29-18, and the Lady Tigers have won the last seven meetings, dating back to the 1995-96 season.

Clemson finished the 2001-02 season with a 17-12 record overall. Clemson has three starters and 10 letterwinners returning from last year’s squad. Senior Guard, Chrissy Floyd (Laurens, SC) led the Lady Tigers in scoring with a 18.2 ppg. Average. She is Clemson’s eighth all-time leading scorer with 1,432 points. She could become only the second Lady Tiger ever to score over 2,000 career points.

Maggie Slosser a junior forward, led the Lady Tigers in rebounding last season with a 5.2 rpg. mark.
