Lady Tigers To Meet Florida State In NCAA Second Round

Clemson, SC. – The 15th-ranked Clemson women’s soccer team will host 16th-ranked Florida State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 11:30AM at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson. The Lady Tigers enter Sunday’s match with a 14-4-1 overall record while Florida State is 15-7-1.

Clemson leads the all-time series against Florida State 6-2 and in the eight games have outscored the Seminoles by a 21-7 margin. Earlier this season on September 17, Florida State scored a late goal to defeat the Lady Tigers by a score of 3-2.

Clemson has a 7-2 record in the NCAA Tournament since 1994, the first year of women’s soccer at Clemson. In the opening round of this year’s tournament, Florida State defeated Auburn 1-0 while the Lady Tigers downed Kentucky in overtime by a score of 1-0. In the first overtime period against the Wildcats, Leigh Clark sent a free kick into the box from 24 yards out that Cindy Mullinix redirected into the net for the winning goal.

Lindsay Browne leads the Lady Tigers in scoring with nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. Paige Ledford has nine goals and five assists for 23 points. Deliah Arrington has 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. Katie Carson has a 0.83 goal allowed averaged. She has allowed only 16 goals in 1744 minutes.
