Lady Tigers Tied For Third After Day One of ACC Championships

College Park, MD- The Clemson University Women’s Swimming and Diving team completed day one tied for third at the 2006 ACC Championships. The team totaled a score of 60 points after swimming the 800 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay. The team of Kim Routh, Michelle Parkhurst, Cassy LaRussa, and Rachel Regone placed second in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:18.70, an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time. In the 200 medley relay, Parkhurst, Ashley Shafer, Jen Grove, and Regone touched the wall in sixth place with a time of 1:43.05, respectively.

Both relay times were season bests for Clemson. The Lady Tigers are currently tied with defending ACC champion Maryland for third place overall. Virginia holds the top spot with 74 points, but Florida State is nipping at their heels with 72 points. The meet will continue tomorrow morning with the preliminary heats of the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle. The session is scheduled to start at 11 am at the Campus Recreation Center in College Park.
