Lady Tigers Post Five Season-Best Performances At Cyclone Qualifier

AMES, IA – The Clemson women’s track and field team completed competition at the Iowa State Last Chance Meet held on Saturday at the Lied Rec Center. The Lady Tigers were led by Silja Ulfarsdottir, Jessica Cousins and the 4x400m relay team, who all posted season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying times.

Ulfarsdottir was the runner-up in the 200m, clocking a time of 23.89. Cousins was third in the event, crossing the finish line in 23.96. Shakirah Rutherford finished seventh with a season-best time of 24.52, Randi Hinton placed ninth in 24.70 and Christina Smith completed the race in 24.79. In the 800m, Patrice McMillan ran a time of 2:15.20 to finish seventh, and Casey Phillips was fifth in the mile with a season-best 5:00.70. Jelyn Quick placed fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.55. The Lady Tigers’ 4x400m relay team placed fourth with a season-best and provisional qualifying time of 3:35.27.

The Lady Tigers will await invitations to the NCAA Championships to be announced Monday night. The national meet will be held in Fayetteville, AR, on Mar. 12-13.
